Are all of Isagenix products organic?

As part of our promise to provide no-compromise products, we use the highest-quality raw materials. Isagenix does prefer to use organic ingredients whenever available—and we do so in many of our products. Not all ingredients, however, are organic due to un-availability. As always, we thoroughly inspect our products to ensure safety, purity, and potency.

What is IsaLyte™ and why is it included in many of your products?

Over the many years of industrialization and continual use of our farmlands, our food supply has become progressively depleted of vitamins and minerals, as well as trace minerals that are important for good health and needed for many functions of the body. IsaLyte™ is a special proprietary blend of more than 70 organic ionic trace minerals extracted from an ancient plant deposit by use of purified water and no heat. The end result is a clear gold liquid that provides you with one of the most superior nutritional supplements in the world.

Are Isagenix products FDA approved?

The FDA does not pre-approve nutritional or dietary supplements because they are regulated as foods (not drugs) under the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) of 1994. The FDA does monitor manufacturing practices and labeling for compliance. Isagenix does use products with an FDA GRAS (generally recognized as safe) certification if available.

Are Isagenix products patented?

Isagenix products are classified as foods and dietary supplements, not drugs—so they cannot be patented. We do, however, use proprietary blends to protect our formulas from becoming competitor "knock-offs." We may use a patented ingredient in our formulas, as in the case of Ester C® in C-Lyte.

IsaDermix products include patented Matrixyl™ 2000 in the Eye & Lip Firming Treatment and patented Argireline® in the P.M. Replenishing Cream.

Why does Isagenix keep information about formulas proprietary?

To protect our formulas from becoming competitor "knock-offs," we generally keep specific amounts and sources of ingredients used in our products as proprietary information. Why do I feel so good after my Cleanse Days?

It's wonderful, isn't it? When you eliminate harmful impurities and excess pounds from your body, you naturally feel fantastic. You're on your way to being healthy, clean, and lean. Our 9 Day and 30 Day Programs, which we also refer to as our Cleansing and Fat Burning Systems, are a safe and amazing way to assist the cleansing of impurities that build up in your system over the years. This, in turn, can help you lose excess pounds and inches. A healthy body is a clean and lean body. That's why cleansing makes you feel fantastic.

Where does all this incredible energy come from?

Not only are you slimmer after your 9 Day or 30 Day Program, but cleansing can help restore your natural absorption of nutrients. This allows your body to be flooded with balanced nutrients—macro-nutrients, vitamins, and minerals—giving you tremendous energy. We use no harmful stimulants, no caffeine, no ma-huang, and no ephedrine.

Why do I get a headache during Cleanse Days?

Some people may experience headaches during their Cleanse Days. Mild headaches can be a common caffeine withdrawal symptom. To alleviate withdrawal symptoms, be sure to stay well hydrated (see recommended water consumption in next FAQ below). Before your first program, we recommend you do two Pre-Cleanse Days. Although reducing your caffeine, alcohol, cigarette smoking, and sugar consumption are wise lifestyle choices, it is especially useful to do so during your Pre-Cleanse Days.

Why do you recommend 8-10 glasses of purified water daily?

Hydration is always important for health benefits and especially while you Cleanse. Proper hydration supports the elimination of harmful impurities and helps your body to function more efficiently. As a general guideline, drink at least 8-10 eight-oz. glasses of purified water daily. For a truer approach, drink at least half your body weight in ounces daily. On Cleanse Days and when exercising, increase this amount.

I get hungry during my Cleanse Days. What can I do?

Be sure to take your Isagenix Snacks to curb cravings. If you must eat a little, try small apple slices, a small salad, a hard boiled egg, a couple of unsalted raw almonds, IsaFuel, or IsaFruits. We also suggest you get more sleep. Going to bed earlier in the evening helps you resist the urge to snack.

Besides junk food, what other foods should I avoid?

For best results, eat responsibly and avoid heavily processed foods, processed meats, hydrogenated oils, alcohol, artificial colors and flavors, additives, white flour products (breads, crackers, pretzels, bagels, etc.), high-glycemic foods, NutraSweet (aspartame), coffee, and caffeinated soda.

What are all the benefits I can receive by using Isagenix Programs?

As a general guideline you should continue to follow our 9 Day or 30 Day Program until you reach your ideal weight. To find out what your weight status should be, we recommend computing your Body Mass Index (BMI) and consulting a health-care professional. Your BMI (Weight x 703 ¸ Height in inches ¸ Height in inches) can assist you in finding where your weight status should be (see table below). Remember, you probably didn't put your weight on overnight, so even if it takes a bit longer to reach your desired weight, you'll benefit every day you incorporate Isagenix products.

Please note: Do not Cleanse for more than two consecutive days. Do not Cleanse for two consecutive days per week for more than three weeks (no more than two "back-to-back 9 Day Programs"). Continue with a 30 Day Program until you reach your target weight. If you are currently taking medications or are under direct medical supervision, choose to start with the 30 Day or Maintenance for Life Program, and consult your physician.

Your Isagenix Program applies principles of a healthy and lean lifestyle—mainly a moderate-calorie diet high in nutrients and an increase in physical activity—with the addition of a proprietary internal body cleansing and nutrition system.

Why are B vitamins in Cleanse for Life?

A healthy amount of B vitamins is needed to support your metabolism to break down fats and carbohydrates. Daily B vitamins can also support your immune system and help maintain muscle tone and healthy skin.

Why is fructose used in Cleanse for Life and other Isagenix products?

Because of its low-glycemic index of only 32, a moderate amount of fructose (fruit sugar) provides an easy flow of carbohydrates to the brain and other body organs without adversely affecting insulin levels. We do not use high-fructose corn syrup (a high-glycemic index food) in any of our products.

Where does your fructose come from?

Our fructose is produced from sugar beet.

Can I add fruit to my IsaLean Shake?

The IsaLean Shake tastes great with fruit, especially berries. Fruit also gives you natural fiber and potassium. Just watch the extra calories. For another flavor, try adding IsaFruits.

After blending an IsaLean Shake, can I store it in the refrigerator?

No. We recommend you drink your prepared IsaLean Shake within 10 minutes to take advantage of the digestive enzymes before they break down the whey protein.

Can I add fiber to the IsaLean Shakes/Soups during my Isagenix Program?

Our IsaLean Shake mixes well with many natural fiber supplements such as oat bran, ground flaxseed, apple pectin, and/or psyllium hulls. We recommend you always include a healthy amount of soluble and insoluble natural fiber as part of your Shake Days. A diet high in natural fiber not only helps curb cravings and promotes regularity, but plays an important role for long-term health and wellness (see FAQ on our high-fiberSlimCakes). High-fiber foods—whether taken in your IsaLean Shake or as part of your 400-600 calorie meals—are an integral part of your Isagenix Program.

Try adding IsaFuel for extra protein and essential fatty acids. IsaLean Soups may also be seasoned with your favorite spices.

Add IsaLean Soup to water no hotter than 110 degrees Fahrenheit (any hotter can destroy some of the nutritional value) and stir with a whisk or fork. Do not heat the water with the IsaLean Soup already mixed. Do not mix hot in an IsaBlender or any other closed container due to vapor build-up.

An IsaBlender is a handy, travel-easy way to whip up great-tasting IsaLean Shakes and to help you follow your program all the way through. Isagenix uses a special supplier that uses a low-temperature, ultra-filtration process to yield an extremely clean, low-lactose, undenatured, organic whey protein concentrate from Australia or New Zealand. Undenatured whey protein preserves whey's natural amino acid profile and is considered best to help enhance your body's immune system.

We use a small percentage of extremely clean, low-heat nonfat dry milk (processed at no more than 160° F for two minutes) with undenatured whey protein content. The ingredient is ideal for giving our shake a rich and creamy taste.

Because the IsaLean Shake is low in lactose, most people who are lactose intolerant don't have any problems using it. As always, consult your physician before using this or any other nutritional products. Discontinue use if you have any allergic reaction.

We do not add any caffeine to any Isagenix products. In addition, we strongly encourage you to avoid caffeine and caffeinated products in general, especially during your Isagenix Program. Any naturally occurring caffeine in our products is in minimal amounts. The Rich Chocolate IsaLean Shake may have naturally occurring caffeine in a small amount due to the natural cocoa used. Cocoa is also a good source of natural antioxidants. If you feel you should avoid cocoa, however, then try our French Vanilla IsaLean Shake.

What is an ORAC test?

An Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity (ORAC) test measures the degree and length of time it takes for a substance to inhibit oxidizing agents. But while an ORAC score may be useful in determining specific antioxidant strength, it fails to give a true representation of how substances are actually used in the body. Many new products on the market rely solely on an ORAC score to sell their product. Isagenix Antioxidants and IsaFruits—while they may have a high ORAC score—are designed to provide you with a broad-spectrum approach to receiving antioxidants for optimum health and wellness.

I have a strange reaction to a specific product?

Once in a while, we get a question about a strange reaction someone has had after using a specific Isagenix product—such as an itchy throat, inability to sleep, and so on. Our bodies have natural differences. If you have an allergic reaction after using a particular Isagenix product, please discontinue using that product.

My regular Isagenix product is a different color and/or has a different taste. Why?

Colors and tastes may vary since natural ingredients are used. Also, please note that to ensure the best products for our customers, Isagenix may enhance formulations from time to time.

Your label shows your product contains mono- and di-glycerides. Where do these come from?

The mono- and di-glycerides in the IsaLean Shakes, IsaKids Super Shake, and SlimCakes derive from vegetable oil.

Is Isagenix moving to have more products certified as Kosher?

Yes. It will take some time, but we are on the road to certify more products as Kosher.
